Before fishing on Association Waters all anglers must have an Environment Agency rod licence.

Notes for mainland anglers the island can be reached by passenger ferry from Portsmouth to Ryde or the Hovercraft from Southsea. 

Wight Link operate ferries from Portsmouth to Fishbourne passenger & car and from Lymington to Yarmouth.

The Association owns the following Three Fishing Sites: -          

SOMERTON RESERVOIR


Situated on the main A3020 Newport to Cowes Road. This water is approximately two acres in size and contains Common and Mirror Carp up to 15lb.Roach, Rudd and Perch up to 2lb. Parking is available onsite.
This is Members/ Permit water and its well-stocked water makes it an ideal venue for the visiting angler.

GUNVILLE POND


Situated on the B3323 Gunville Road, Newport (½ mile from Carisbrooke Church on the left). This specimen hunters pond is approximately two acres in size and contains Pike 20lb plus, Common and Mirror Carp up to 20lb, some Linear Mirror Carp, Tench and Common Bream up to 6lb, Perch up to 4lb, Rudd and Roach both caught up to 2lb. Parking is available on site.
This is a members water with weekly/day permits available through local tackle shops

MERSTONE FISHERIES


Situated off the A3056, East Lane is just passed the turning to Merstone Village. The entrance is next to Little Budbridge Farm. The site contains three lakes, Kingfisher and Heron approx. 2 acres and Minnow the smallest. The lakes contain Common and Mirror Carp up to 25lb, Bream up to 13lb, Tench and Golden Orfe up to 7lb, Perch and Crucian Carp up to 1.5lb, Roach and Rudd up to 1lb. Parking on site is available. (Toilet summer only June -September).
Facilities for Disabled Anglers are available on Minnow Lake (waterside parking etc.). Kingfisher is a members water with weekly/day permits available through local tackle shops.

Heron Lake is MEMBERS ONLY.

(Heron Lake on a trial basis until the next AGM is a members & guests lake only NO Permit holders.)

RIVER FISHING ON THE EASTERN YAR


The left hand bank upstream to Yarbridge to the small pump house. The right hand bank downstream of the Yarbridge to the first sluice. Both of these stretches are now strictly  MEMBERS ONLY.     NO DAY PERMITS

Fishing available from the left hand bank upstream of the footbridge at the old Mill at Alverstone to the stile near the old railway track. The right hand bank downstream at Adgestone from Longwood Road Bridge, passed the caravan park until the river divides at the cut and continues to Morton Common. Day permits are available from tackle shops only.
