John Millington's Thought for 20010/11 Matches and comments reply to John ASAP

I am proposing to make a few changes prior to the New Season . To make the whole Sunday Match experience better and fairer to all. ( Handicap For Jonesy LoL )

If anyone has any ideas/ suggestions ,on procedure or match format , duration, socialising etc ,Wednesday  / Evening matches , Bait limits/ bans ,Do you still want the river matches next year or would you rather fish Heron or mainland trip ( maybe a proper river? Stour / Avon, Medway )  let me know your thoughts  by email or in writing before 7th Feb.

I have been asked to allow a regular Optional Superpool , I`m fine with that. It can now be paid in with your entry.

Allthough to some people its not  a popular idea , I also intend to extend the setting up time to 90mins on most matches this year. Obviously this isn`t necessary on feeder only matches

.

For anybody that feels the extra time isn`t warranted , they have 2 options

Option1 . Contact me prior to a match to confirm you want to fish ,Your peg will be drawn for you , then turn up when you like,  pay me , set up your 1 top kit in time for the all in.

Option 2 Dont  fish it.

I need the weigh in to be better organised.

Present structure not working, Even when I have appointed Scales at the draw IE , 2 sets of scales working in opposite directions . ,Should work,

But since I have been match secretary, on many occasions the allotted scalesmen have either been Incompetent , very late in starting the weigh in Or they`ve Gone home early, leaving the weigh in in chaos.

Personally I would prefer to get my kit either packed at the peg  or back to the car then join in and walk round with the scalesmen , ( as should everyone , on a nice day especially)

1)  two volunteers required for weighing  in.  In addition 2 more mature gents to write down the weights ( legibly ) , who are fairly sharp at packing away kit after match ( eg . Chris Langdon ) if unable to fish ( A.N. Other )To be official Club Scalesman.

Helpers still required from time to time.

Weigh in to start 20 mins after the "All Out", Not Before. Allowing ample time for  expensive poles etc to be stowed away.

As I have amassed the grand sum of £102 towards our "travelling fund"  since we went to Broadlands it seems a bit unfair that everyone who pays their £ doesn`t necessarily benefit from it, if they rarely go on away trips,  so I am  thinking of -introducing a  multiple Golden peg , Not refined as yet but probably  In sections or eg 24 fishing = 3-4 golden pegs, you would think it would be won more often this way.

Inspired by a conversation I overheard Sunday , Another chance for 1 lucky person to cover his/her match expenses is Guess the winning match weight £1 or even 50p paid on registration. Correct weight or nearest ( must be within 5lbs ( carp included match) or 2lbs ( silvers only) else a roll over.

If there is enough initial  will and opinion I will prepare a questionnaire to hand out to the PC less and get the broadest opinion.

Its no good having a go at me when, all things dont suit an individual , now is the time to get things done democratically so ALL of us can relax and enjoy our Sunday Match.

John Millington caught this magnificent specimen pike of 15lb at Gunville

What a test for man and pole with 2lb trace against the might of a large pike. The man won.
